I've had an issue happen on a few different computers and was curious if anyone else had experienced this. I'm using the last generation macbook pro (not the unibody) with full memory. I upgraded to snow leopard and mainstage 2 and I while I'm playing I'll suddenly start having the exs sounds drop out after 2 seconds. If I restart it's fine. Does anyone have a solution? I've done all software upgrades.
everything was fine at rehersal last night had 3-4 hours of smooth running , going to use again tonight i'll post any issues , fingers crossed its all ok , i noticed that its mainly the steinway.esx patch that used to do it ... that might be nothing ....
I am getting this problem too. It seems to be extremely random....sounds on the exs will drop out and then appear again later. I have had the same results using a fireface, and ESI Duafire, and a Midisport via USB. When I reload Mainstage it works again, for a while....often a patch made with the EXS will drop out at random.
Update. Problem is back. I was told by Apple today that the problem could be caused by my PSP Vintage Warmer plug in, so I removed it, and all day I have been running without the problem, but this is what it did to me on Sat. Ran fine for 5 hours straight at the house. Get to the gig, problem started 15 minutes into the gig.
i've not had this problem for a while , i think it is in someway linked to the audio subsystem failing which is in another thread as thinking back i remember a light clipping /popping sound when it was doing this , ive not had complete audio fail other than once ages ago, lets hope 2.1.1 is updated to get rid of these random glithches
Yes, this does sound similar to the "Audio Subsystem Died" thread that others and myself are experiencing. It seems to be completely random. In my case (on my MacBook/Ultralite combo), however, I have not heard a pop or crackling beforehand....the audio input just suddenly disappears. It seems to happen mostly after switching back and forth between Layout, Edit and Perform modes, although it has also occurred when my system was just sitting idle for 20 minutes or so.
I am still troubleshooting to see if I can isolate root cause; so far am not having the problem with MainStage 1.02. But I prefer to use 2.1 or 2.1.1 due to the feature set (not to mention the $200 upgrade price!).
only difference for me is that I don't lose audio, I just get drop outs after 2 seconds. Its as if the part of the sample that's in ram plays, but not the part that it streams from the drive. Almost like it's playing the sample up to the point where it would loop for the sustaining part of the sample.
my problem was back a few days ago , just out of intrest i've noticed:
sometimes it seems to loose sustain after 2 seconds , other times its a complete loss of sustain all together
i've seen a post relating to piano sounds and a sustain error where the setting needed changing to abolute , i'll try this next time im in MS and post
has anyone found the panic command to assist with this? i can't say for sure as i was mid gig and had to ensure i got backup and running asap can people test this
also i'm considering running on built in audio for a gig and seeing if that aids at all as when i'm running on that to setup patches etc i never seem to have the problem
i guess the really frustrating this is not knowing for sure how to recreate the problem maybe we should all start a checklist of what we have in common?
MY PROBLEM IS BACK!! REALLY STARTING TO HATE THIS.
the only thing I can say I noticed, is that my cpu was constantly in the Red tonight for some reason. That's never happened with this concert, and it worked flawless last weekend. I have changed NOTHING at all. I only use my MBP for live gigs, and the MBP probably hasn't even been turned on since last weekend.
I have a few IKmultimedia plugins, and Toontracks superior drummer. But even after removing them, I still had the problem. The only other Non Apple product I'm using with Mainstage is a product from sampletek called White Grand. I'm also using an M-Audio firewire 410, but this happens even without that in the mix, and just taking the headphone jack out to the board.
I do NOT have this problem with mainstage 1 and I have a ton of plug ins in that one.
it happens for me with or without the firewire interface, it happens with a usb keyboard, it happens with an edirol usb/midi adapter, it happens with any setup. Doesn't happen with Mainstage 1.
