What is the best diary app ?

I need to keep a daily diary and want to be able to transfer the diary between my PC and iPhone.

I want to use both my PC and my iPhone for adding to the diary and be able to keep a backup on my PC.

Most the diary entries will be written using my PC, but when Im not at my PC I want to be able to write them on my iPhone.

Then sync between my PC and iPhone so both are always up to date.

Ive searched for "Diary" but it comes up with over 200 results !

Its a shame I cant display these results in order of their ratings ?

Dell, Windows XP Pro, Inspiron 1520

I'm currently searching for a diary app.

The thing is, when I get a bunch of search results I tend to read through them and go from there.....

What I'm saying is try some out, read a bit you know ? then you may find what is " best" for you, udig ?

I use (and love) [Momento|http://www.momentoapp.com>. Momento can download your posts from Twitter, Facebook and Flickr and you can of course write your own posts.

The only caveat is, that at present you can only write your diary within the app, although the developers have hinted on a desktop application (which may be Mac only).

Good luck!

Trouble is, the above software is for Mac only.

I have a PC (cant afford a Mac!).

All I want is to be able to keep a diary which I can either write on the iphone OR on my PC AND be able to sync them both.

I dont need any other features other than to backup and export if possible.

The last thing I want to do is share my entries with facebook, twitter etc because they will be very personal, confidential entries.

Doesnt seem too much to ask for does it ?

There are a lot of useless, pointless apps out there.

But whenever I need a useful app there just isnt one !

Im also looking for an app that will save sms conversations onto my PC, so I can back them up.

But I cant find anything believe it or not.

On Nokia phones you can download and save text messages etc.

So if anyone knows of an app that will save text messages to a PC then please let me know !

I wish I could write my own apps, but for a start I dont have a Mac !

The nearest app ive found for my diary needs is "Momo".

I havent used it properly yet and you have to use Momo Google Calendar to write entries when using a PC.

So this might have to do, presuming it can store enough characters for a single diary entry (im not sure if its limited to 100 characters or something daft).

I got a G3 iMac with 1GB RAM , 80GB HD runs Tiger ok... for 20 quid!, takes a lil bit of time doing some tasks and most of iLife is a no-no but ye ..ok for dev softwares and such... check ebay ..prolly get a g4 for 20's now ...was about a year ago when got the g3

I was giving OS X software just because this is Apples own forum, I wasn't expecting anyone to be wanting windows apps that's all. sorry I can't recommend any windows software as I haven't used any.

Maybe try a Windows software forum or Microsoft website ?!

I had a quick google about and found a few places which you may/may not find useful(links below)... I hope you find something suitable. Often times best bet is to just try 3 or 4 differnt appsout of the plethora available.....pick the one most suited. Then keep trying an app per week till you find 'the one'
Oh btw..When I was searching for a diary like app for OS X it took me an age to realized this type of app will be described as a 'Journal ' by US programmers and subsequently most the rest of the world -rather than a diary . I noticed you are in UK and guessed you might have been searching for diary application?
