Tiger mail adding Hyperlink problem

I'm having an issue with adding a hyperlink with the drop down menu,

When I paste This link...
http://www.billygphotography.net/Other/Drover-Training-Machine/10924374dqsKN#762950427HbXwS

in the add hyperlink box and then click on the highlighted word..
this is the link I get the link below...

It's changes the # to a % as you can see above and links to a different area in the Gallery...
What can cause this problem? I'm using Tiger mail Version 2.1.3 (753.1)
and the Galleries are on smugmug for photographers every time I add a new gallery and try to send a link this happens.. I have to paste the whole link in the email page and it works fine, however don't look professional.. Thanks for your time

The #, (number sign/pound sign), is confusing it, it's simply stating the "#" as hex #23...

But # in a URL is generally used for defining a certain portion of/location on... of the preceding url page, compare these two....

Thanks, is there anyway around this? My Image hosting company Smugmug says they can use the # as an anchor so I'm assuming that most of the customers aren't mac users.... I guess the only why is to use the long hand Html in my emails when sending a link to a customer?

You should not use the number sign in a URL EXCEPT as an anchor.

Should point to a page of...

With an anchor of...

Oh when copying the link remove the anchor # to the end? I just copy and paste in the Hyperlink drop down I will try that thanks...?

This works find for the gallery however the anchor links to a particular Images this is a problem.... they keep telling me update my tiger mail... How do I that? When I check for updates (in my pull down menu) I'm up to date with everything..

Mail version 2.1.3 is as far as you can update in OSX Mail, to get any higher you need to update the OS to 10.5.x
