Music Missing from Artist list

I have a 160g classic, and for some reason i have some artist that won't be displayed when I'm looking at the artist list, but when I look for the specific album on my ipod or look for the artist under my ipod in Itunes it's there, Can anyone help me with this problem????

Hello Brad,
And welcome to Apple Discussions!

It may be because the album is listed as part of a compilation.

To remove this, head into your iTunes library and highlight the album and right->click "Get Info" from the menu.
Once the window pops up, head over to the Info tab. Near the bottom right corner you will see an option to set it as "Part of a compilation."
Remove the check mark if there is one, and if there isn't set one there anyways and then remove it just to be sure it is not a compilation.
Make sure to check this with both albums that are missing.

Once you have completed that, go ahead and resync your iPod to your iTunes so it can update itself. Hope this helps.

I searched and searched and finally found a post with the answer. Still seems inane and not quite how I'd expect it to work but it got the job done.

+To display all artists in the Artists menu on your iPod, even those who only appear on compilations, remove the ticks against both of the iPod Compilation menu items, i.e.+
+Settings > Main Menu > Music > Compilations+
+Settings > Music Menu > Compilations+
+Cover flow should remain the same, with all compilations albums listed at the right-hand end.+
