So I recently upgraded to Windows 7 64-bit. I have an apple TV (40GB version) with the latest firmware. Prior to upgrade, had no problems at all. Apple TV is discovered in devices list, but while syncing, the blue screen of death appears. I have isolated the problem to being the connection with the Apple TV (have turned off all other software and hardware individually, only happens while Apple TV has an ACTIVE connection to the computer). Hardware for system is the same, router is the same, but this problem has also affected the syncing between iTunes and any ipod connected while the Apple TV is connected, without the Apple TV I have no problems syncing the iPods (2nd gen Shuffle, 5.5 Gen iPod Video, 2nd Gen iPod touch). None of these problems existed before the upgrade. Any ideas on how to get around this?
I use my ATV with Windows 7 64bit with no problems. Firstly are you sure your using the 64bit version of iTunes. Second what information does the blue screen contain. Blue screens are usually caused by faulty hardware or incorrect/corrupt drivers.
Interestingly enough, it never describes the problem or what causes it, just the address of the fault that caused it. And yes, it is the 64-bit version of itunes. 🙂 Well during my testing after the install, I found no other conflicts, and have yet to have any other crashes of any kind.
Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes? In Windows 7 after a blue screen occurs a log file is always generated, does that not contain any useful information? Can you post the log file to a site like pastebin.com and/or take a picture of the bluescreen.
As for the problem: can't take shot of screen, and can't find the log of this event with any details, but recreated the crash, it seems tcpip.sys is what's causing the crash.
Guys, I got the answer, and so that it's here for future reference:
It was not the Apple TV, though the Apple TV is what exposed the problem. The problem is with CA Internet Security 2010, which, for some reason, installs and creates corruptions in some network drivers. The solution can be found here:

Thank you all for the brainstorming, hope the next person is helped by this.
