Is there anyway of merging these into one? or at least some of them?

Guys, I honestly feel you're hoping in vain for this.  People have been moaning to Apple about this for years, and they have stated categorically that they have no intention of allowing merged Apple IDs.

Maybe with the millions more iCloud Apple IDs now, they might reconsider, but I doubt it.  I hope I'm wrong!

Has anybody ever heard Apple give a reasonable - or any - reason WHY they won't merge multiple Apple ID accounts?  I mean, if you are officially saying "NO" can you not at a minimum give an explanation?  Technical reasons?  Licensing issues?  "We don't like our customers nor do we respect them."  Something???

Hi Everyone here is the answer per http://support.apple.com/kb/HE37

Also, you can arrive at the above URL by going to www.apple.com/support/appleid

brianfromromulus: that is NOT the answer.  It doesn't tell us anything we don't already know, i.e. there is no way of merging Apple IDs.

Apple very rarely give reasons for anything like this.

That's the best possible answer that Apple has to give at this time.

The answer is derived from the Apple id support page (www.apple.com/support/appleid).

Very good question and deserves a good answer.

Maybe I'll send some feedback to the Apple ID Support Group

to find out the reason why merging Apple IDs can not be done.

Can I ask, if you are running two IDs, one from MMe and one for iTunes, surely the back up/syncing via wifi? (iPhone backup) as my phone says it cannot "see" the Mac, despite being on the same network and plugged in to a power source as stated. Why can't it see the Mac and why does it need to?

You can try, but many people have over the years, and they all get the same answer - it can't be done!  They will not give a reason.

It needs to see your Mac to sync to it!

Have you switched on the option in iTunes?  The 'Sync with this iPhone over wi-fi' option?

I've been trying to resolve a similar issue via AppleCare customer service for the past few days, but no success.  My scenario is this.

I originally created an Apple ID for iTunes in 2006 that was simply myname with a 6-character password.  In 2010 Apple said that to have a valid Apple ID it must be an email address and have a password of 8 characters with at least one capital letter--so I created myname@mac.com with a new 8-character password.  When requested on my three iOS 5 devices to set up store account I used the mac.com one.  Now I am locked out of 5 years of iTunes and Apps in the myname only account because I was not notified of the 90-day lockout until after the newer, fewer purchases account was added.

I hope Apple provides the ability to merge accounts soon--there must be tens of thousands who are in similar a situation of being locked out on their iOS 5 devices.  Fortunately, it looks like USB syncing to a computer that has both accounts iTunes and Apps still works.

@ igmackenzie yes it is set to a) back up to iCloud and b) sync over wifi. I was getting confused over the two.... but still don\'t understand why it cannot "see" the mac?

    igmackenzie,

Your are right, I got the same answer, it can't be done.

    Here's what I did.

I contacted apple id support via express lane,

and I was told the most accurate answer would be

    at the website (www.apple.com/support/appleid)

But, that still doesn't give a logical and/or technical reason

why Apple IDs can not be merged.

Brian, you won't get an answer!  Simple as that.  People have been trying to get Apple to do this for years. Nothing has changed.

There are lots of threads here on that subject.  There is no simple answer.  Try a search and see if any of the other suggestions help.
