Wireless Network password too short - mac won't accept HELP

Basically, my problem is exactly what I'ves aid.

The password for the wireless network where I'm staying is too short (only 6 digits) and my macbook won't accept it unless it has 8 digits... the network password works perfectly fine with Windows computers (both running vista if thathelps) - is there any way at all to get around this issue?

Or am I just stuck with no internet for the next few weeks?

MacBook (Black), Mac OS X (10.5.8)

As PockyRevolution suggests you may be using an incorrect encryption protocol.

As your MacBook only accepts passwords of 8 or more characters you are probably trying to set up a WPA connection.

As the key for the network you wish to join is 6 characters long, it's probably a WEP connection.

Can you try any of the suggestions here

especially those for setting up WEP.

Best wishes
