Jan 14, 2010 1:57 PM in response to bibihuiby b noir,I cannot launch quick time with the shortcut on my desktop. error message 2095 always show up.
I can run it as administrator, it seems working fine.
Interesting.
Does your user account on Vista have full administrative rights? Or are you just a normal user? -
Jan 14, 2010 6:23 PM in response to b noirby bibihui,I do not know how to answer that.
But when I am right click mouse and choose "Run as administrator" in the drop down menu, quicktime can launch with no problem.
The most important problem for me is that i cannot load the webpage contains quicktim contant in. there is always error message. -

Something odd may be happening with your administrative rights here.
What is the full text of the error message you get from the plugin in IE? (That may give us some clues as to what has gone wrong.) -
Jan 14, 2010 8:26 PM in response to b noirby bibihui,I tried just now.
If I turn the UAC in vista off, the problem would be fixed. both quicktime and web page problems are all fixed.
How could I keep UAC on and make quicktime work? -

Jan 15, 2010 5:20 PM in response to bibihuiby b noir,Hmmm. there could be an issue with the operating system files associated with UAC on the PC. If that's the case, an sfc /scannow may fix the problem.
There's instructions on how to perform that in the following Microsoft document:
[How to use the System File Checker tool to troubleshoot missing or corrupted system files on Windows Vista or on Windows 7|http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833] -

- Windows Vista Business SP2
- Quicktime 7.6.5
- iTunes 9.0.3.15
Installed and removed (with Revo Unsinstall Pro) both iTunes and Quicktime separately and together many times. Re-install attempts from user, administrator and 'hidden' administrator accounts. Tried adding specific permissions in registry HKLM/Software/Apple../Quicktime. Tried running system file checker tool. All yield the same result - which is:
- iTunes works fine
- quicktime works fine on 'hidden' administrator and regular user accounts
- on my (administrator) account:
- quicktime works in Chrome with UAC on, but not in IE(8)
- quicktime files play in iTunes with UAC on
- quicktime works fine with UAC off
- with UAC on, I get error 2095 trying to launch quicktime directly or by double clicking on an .mov file. I also get plug-in did not initialise errors in IE.
I really would like to fix it! What should I try next?
