Hi- I have an external disk plugged into my AEBS and I cannot see it in my finder or desktop. If I open the Airport Utility, I can see it in the disk section, but I cannot see it anywhere else. Thoughts? Ideas? I can see the disk in the Airport Utility on all three of my Macs.
I have Snow Leopard.
Click your Airport in the Finder Sidebar. The partition(s) should show up in the Finder window; double-click it and it should appear on your desktop, but as a +Connected Server,+ not an external disk (so be sure you've got the +Connected Server+ box checked in +Finder > Preferences > General.+

I am having the same problem. I recently reformatted the drive to the Mac OS Extended (Journaled) which I've been told is HFS+ just renamed. I have looked under Finder Preferences as suggested to enable Connected Servers. The ONLY place the disk shows up is in Airport Utility > Disks...
Open your hard drive and look for the SHARED heading on the left
Your AirPort Extreme icon should be there
Click it and a folder will appear to the right
Double click this folder
You may need to click the "Connect" button at the upper right of the window to display your disk.
Also you might have to connect to the Router. Sometimes my disks don't automatically show up, especially in Time Machine until I connect to the server.
Go to Finder
Choose "Go -> Connect to a Server"
Either use the browse btton to find the router or type "afp://10.0.1.1" (Thats the default router address)
It should then connect to the router. Should ask your for a password of one type or other depending on how you have the router configured. Then you should see your disk on the desktop or in Finder by clicking on the router name in the Left column.
Did you follow Pondini's post earlier in this thread?
Click anywhere in an open area of your desktop so the Finder menus are displayed at the top of the screen
Click Finder, then click Preferences, then click the General tab
Under the heading of "Show these items on the desktop", make sure there is a check mark next to "Connected Servers"
Ok- I have even completely restored my AEBS and here's what I'm getting...
There is nothing in the sidebar of the finder under shared or anywhere else. No AEBS and no disk. I tried the "go" -> connect to server and afp://10.0.1.1 (which is the address in the Airport Utility) and I get... The server "10.0.1.1" may not exist or it is unavailable at this time. Check the server name or IP address, check your network connection, and then try again. In the Airport Utility, I can see the disk under the disk tab. Do I need to change any of the settings under file sharing?
I figured it out. I am using a WD passport and it wasn't formatted correctly. I used Disk Utility and formatted to the Mac Extended... Anyway, once I plugged it into the AEBS, the airport showed up in my devices and I was able to connect to the drive.
Worked for me thanks. (Click on SHARED in the Finder sidebar) - wait a second and the Airport and disks showed up. I also have 'Back to My Mac' enabled. One last thing to check is if you have the right icons enabled for Finder (Finder > Preferences > Advanced)
I have a new WD "MyDisk" plugged in.
It is FAT formatted so I can't use afp:/10.0.1.1 but I should be able to use SMB://10.0.1.1.

I've tried all the suggestions here with not luck.
I'll be plugging the disk directly into my computer and reformatting it in HFS+.
