Converting a TIFF file to 1 bit on the Mac

You might also try the shareware program called Graphic Converter. It may convert TIFF files to 1 bit.

More information on what you're trying to do and how would help you get better answers.

Any imgage processing application like GraphicConverter or Elements will let you do this, or a quick and dirty approach would be to use Preview and in it go Tools > Image Correction to reduce saturation to zero.

Note that if working with images in AppleWorks you will do better to use PICT rather than TIFF format.

If you are looking to output TIFF separations (for Monochrome, CMYK or CMYK plus spot colors) and you are going to have to do this on a daily basis then you may want to look into getting a RIP to do the separations.
