Using iphone's 3G data on laptop by bluetooth

I read a post that states you can bluetooth your laptop to the iphone but you are not able to sysnc etc, does any one know when the option for bluetooth connection to a laptop to enable you to use the 3G data for internet browesing from the laptop is going to be available.

Seems like a waste of resource if you cant utilise this bandwidth while out on the road

all other phones/PDA's I have used allows this simple connectivity
