Can apple TV's ethernet port connect to my Direct TV DVR?

My Direct TV DVR has a ethernet port, no wireless access. I was wondering if I could use my apple TV to bring internet access to it? Does anyone know if the apple TV can act as a "bridge"?

Any input is greatly appreciated.
