DVCPROHD 1080i/60 must be converted to 24p.

Question

DVCPROHD 1080i/60 must be converted to 24p.

My film was being shot on a Panasonic HDX-900 at 1080i/60, 24p.
Unfortunately it looks like my entire last day of shooting was NOT done at 24p. By mistake.

Is it possible that FCP took out the pulldown when capturing?
Can FCP or Cinema Tools add a pulldown without loss, or am I screwed?

G5 Quad 2.5 PowerPC, Mac OS X (10.4.11), FCP 6.06

Do you mean to say that it was shot 24p @ 60i, that is to say 24 with a pulldown, or just straight 60i? If it's with a pulldown, this shouldn't be an issue-- use Cinema Tools or Compressor to remove it. If it's actually 60i, you can try to convert to 24 with Compressor, but the results may not be to your satisfaction.

Unfortunately it was shot at straight 60i. It was supposed to be shot at 24p.

My DP is very thorough and careful. And I remember him spending a lot of time in the camera menus before we shot--so this is a big surprise. So I'm still holding out hope that somehow the tapes are ok and the pulldown was taken out when captured or even later; I can't imagine not noticing this when I was capturing the footage in December.

If it's straight 60i, I unfortunately don't see how you could have a 24p master tape. You either had a 24p tape and somehow added pulldown to get to 60i, or you're stuck at 60i and will have to try Compressor (or another such solution).

Maybe the AJ-HD1200 deck used to capture from removed the pulldown?

Well if you started with 24 and ended up with 60 then you added a pulldown, not removed one. But not being familiar with that deck, I can't say.

The camera doesn't do a true 24p. It's a 24p "mode", which is really 24/60i (a 3:2 pulldown I believe). But this footage is clearly 60/60i. VTRs can get a little complicated, so I'm hoping I somehow told the deck to remove the pulldown--or add it, or something.

...I'm not even sure that's possible--I'm just grasping at straws.
I will have to take a tape to a post house to confirm that it was not shot correctly.

If it's 60/60i, there's no pulldown involved, so there's not really any way your tape can be 24. My condolences, but I don't see how it could be any other way.
