Different operating systems can have radically different effects on battery use. OS X is a much more streamlined OS then Windows and tends to use fewer system resources while running. Which version of Windows are you running? I would guess you are running through BootCamp?... or are you running Windows through virtualization (Parallels, Fusion, VirtualBox, etc...)?
im running windows XP through bootcamp. My macbook battery is old, but I still get an hour and a half charge in OS X. Whereas in Windows I get a 5 minute charge if that. Also I noticed the fan stays on at all times if I am running a game or a movie, is this normal?
That doesn't sound too unreasonable to me. Maybe a little short on the Windows side.
What activities are you doing with Windows?
And yes, it's normal for the fan to be running if you're playing a game and/or watching a movie. If your fan is running, I recommend you have your AC adapter connected.
While booted into OS X, open *System Profiler* in Applications>Utilities. Click on
power in the left-hand column. Copy the
battery information and paste it here.
Are you running the latest Boot Camp drivers for Windows? Have you tried reinstalling Windows? If the battery life is fine on the Mac OS X side but suffers on the Windows side, it sounds like a Windows issue and not a Mac/Apple issue. I'd start first with either updating or reinstalling the Boot Camp drivers, then reset the SMC. If issue still persists, then reinstall Windows. If issue still persists from there I'm unsure what support you'll get from Apple because they're going to tell you it's a Window's issue.
it is more then a little short on the windows side, and it is normal for the fan to be absolutely roaring the whole time im watching a movie or playing a game????
