Connecting MacBook Pro to projector?

Is there an adapter that'll allow me to connect an early 2008 MacBook Pro to an Epson 1080i projector? I guess I'll need a mini DVI to component or HDMI, but I've heard there's an issue with sound. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Kelly

If the projector supports HDMI you need a DVI to HDMI like this one. The cable does not support sound, so you will need to use a patch cord to connect your headphone output directly to the projector. I use a pair of external speakers connected to the headphone output port and it works great.

Is DVI-D the same as a mini DVI?

DVI-D is the standard digital mode in which DVI interfaces with HDMI. DVI-A is the analog mode in which it interfaces with VGA.
The Mini-DVI connector is used on Apple computers as a digital alternative to the Mini-VGA connector. It is found on the 12-inch PowerBook G4, Intel-based iMac, the MacBook Intel-based laptop, the Intel-based Xserve, and the 2009 Mac mini. see here for more details.
