I turned off my 1st generation IPhone this morning (dont do that often). Ive been trying to turn it back on for about an hour and I can only get the apple to come on for about a minute then it dissapears but thats it, the phone doesn't boot up. Ive never had any kind of issue before. I tried holding the two buttons and just the one but aside from the Apple coming on for a minute or so nothing happens. Can anyone help?
Cant get past step one. Nothing happens when I hold the home button and plug it in. Itunes isn't recognizing from my computer, nothing shows on my screen. The only thing that will make my phone do anything at all is to hold the sleep button down and make the apple appear for about a minute.
Reboot your computer, Launch iTunes, then hold the HOME button while continuing to hold it for a very long time until a graphing of the iPhone connected to a computer appears. If nothing has happened after 5 minutes of holding it your phone is broken; you will have to contact Apple for an exchange.
Well I kinda did a mix of everything you advised except rebooting my computer. At the end of the day I left it connected to the computer, held the sleep and home buttons down for 10 seconds at a time, did this in succession about 5 times before it finally went into recovery mode and I could restore it. Thank you for your time and help Lawrence!
