Q: Powerbook Duo 280: power questions

I'm interested in buying a particular PB Duo 280 (might even be a 280c) on eBay. The Duo comes with a Dock, but no AC adapter of its own and the battery is down to single digit minutes of life.

So, what I want to clarify is which adapter I can safely use without frying the Duo. I've seen specific Duo adapters, but these command a higher price on eBay (I'm in the UK, where vintage Apple tech is that little bit rarer/more expensive). Am I right in thinking that a G3 adapter would work OK? I have a G4 iBook 45W adapter, but I gather that wouldn't be compatible.

Moving on to batteries... As a noob at this sort of thing, is recelling a battery something I might want to attempt?

Thanks for reading and any help is appreciated.

Regards

Gareth

The thing that is important is the diameter of the DC output cable connector. If the diameter is the same, it should work.

    Not in a million years.
