PS2 Development Mess!

got my PS2 and I am happy to have it. I want to make a game for it, and I know that there is a homebrew community, so I don't need to be an official developer. I went to ps2dev.org and read some of the pages on development. I have downloaded the toolchain, but it says i need to get some Unix applications. Can someone help me? I also would like it if someone showed me where to go for a good tutorial to make theese games, and where to get some manuals. Thanks in advance!

Apple's discussion groups is probably not a good place to ask for advice about what software to use to develop games for the PS2.

That is probably true, but only because there aren't many Mac developers who write PS2 games. The standard platform for roll-your-own PS2 game development seems to be Cygwin on Windows. There is no reason why a Mac couldn't do that.

My advice would be post a question on the PS2 dev forums about how to get started. Generally, you want to follow the Linux instructions. You will probably have to build your own GCC compilers. You will not be able to use GCC that comes with Xcode. However, you could, eventually, get Xcode setup to build PS2 games using custom GCC versions. It won't be easy 🙂 There are people who are doing PS2 development on a Mac, but you've got a lot of work cut out for you.
