I can't hear the vocals when i plug in my headphones

I just bought new headphones and i plugged them into my ipod touch 2nd gen. I realized that i couldn't hear the vocals, but i could hear the bass and instrumentals perfectly. I don't know what to do and i know it can't be the headphones because i plugged them into my girlfriends ipod and it works fine...plz help
