Application briefly appears in dock and disappears

Every time I try to open Epson Scan, an icon briefly appears in the dock and disappears. I cannot access the software at all. I have absolutely no idea what is going on, but I do know I cannot scan anything until I can figure this out.

Does anyone have any ideas?
