How to combine two iPhoto libraries

I have two machines with different iPhoto libraries, some pictures are same and some are different.
Now I would like to combine these two different libraries onto one single Mac and have a single library.

If I export all the photos from one machine into a folder and copy them over, all photos loose all the properties i.e. all the same date and are all in a single event.

How would I go about doing this?
