Mini DisplayPort adapter for ADC HD Cinema Display

I want to run two 23" HD Cinema Displays ("P63", clear casing) that have video cables with ADC plugs. I also have two DVI to ADC adapters. Can I connect an ATI Radeon 4870 Mini DisplayPort to an ADC video cable with a single adapter?
Am I better off installing an NVIDIA GeForce GT 120 along with the ATI Radeon 4870 to run both screens?

Mac Pro 8-core, Mac OS X (10.6.2), 11 GB RAM

You will need a Mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter for one of the displays.

It's better to run both displays from one graphics card.

Thanks. I'm curious why it is better for two displays to use one graphics card rather than two graphics cards?

With a single card, the CPU on the card can handle windows that are dragged between displays, or span both displays. With two cards, a lot more data must be handles outside the card. Some applications, such as Final Cut Pro, can have problems with multiple cards, even if only one display is being used by the application.
