Widgets will not load

HI,

Open System Preferences / Keyboard & Mouse / Keyboard Shortcuts

Make sure the shortcut key F12 didn't get changed.

If that's ok, then go to ~/Library/Preferences and move the following files to the Trash.

com.apple.dashboard.plist

com.apple.dashboard.client.plist

Restart your Mac.

By "widgets will not load", what exactly do you mean? Does the dashboard show up with no widgets on it at all or do the widgets appear but just do not load their functionality?

If you made Web Clip widgets, the webpage that it is the source of a clipping might be causing Safari to unexpectedly quit. Go into Dashboard and remove any web clip widgets. Then, if you can access the original website, re-create the widgets and see if the issue persists.

Had the same problem with widgets not loading on my G5 (leopard) start today, things like weather and one I have for trip advisor. Then I noticed the stocks and shares app and weather app on my ipod touch won't load on the same network. Went to software update but when i go to update my software is searches, hangs and the tells me I have a network error. Ran network diagnostics and all fine and can access internet no problem.

this makes me think it might be an external server problem rather than anything to do with my set up? Anyone else experiencing this problem today?

I'm having exactly the same problem. In addition, some pages such as store.apple.com/uk and hotukdeals.com will not open. My ISP is Virgin, could this be a problem at their end?

Interesting as I am with Virgin too ! Think it might well be.... Can't face the trauma of their customer support so will just sit this out and see what happens. Do you get the same problem with trying to check for software updates? i.e. reports a network failure ?

Yes, I have the same problem.

It also seems that I can't download any iphone application updates...

Where abouts are you in the UK? Just wondering if this might be a local issue or a wider one? I'm in Birmingham.

Definitely a Virgin issue as I just jumped onto my neighbours open network and all worked ok?

Cheers, changing the proxy solved the issue for me!

Edit: But not all websites are working normally, for example amazon front page is ok but can't login to my account. Widgets are working normally.
