Q: Lost Bootable CD/DVD for PowerBook G4 1.5Ghz with Superdrive
Hi,
Here is my question: I have a G4 for which I lost the install DVD (I know, it's stupid). I was wondering what were my options. I also have an Intel Macbook that I use on a daily basis but I'd like to keep the G4 up and running anyway.
My wife has been using it until now and I recently noticed that the fans are very loud and it is more and more difficult to load internet pages, itunes or iphoto, it heats up pretty quick... etc I was wondering if there was anything we could do to "pump it up", maybe a formatting (I come from the PC world ). In terms of apps, it's pretty much clean. It has some hard drive memory left. I don't know what to do.
So far, I've read that:
- it was veryyyyyyyyyyyy difficult to reformat/ reinstall if I don't have the DVD
- my macbook (neither its install dvd)can not help since it's an intel based
- i could look to buy something off ebay (which is not my first choice but I may end up doing it).
If anybody has an idea, I'll take it!
Thanks for your time and have a good day!
Remy
