Can't sign into my itunes account?

I am also having trouble buying anything or searching the Itunes store

Store is down at the moment so best to just give up for the time being.

I cannot sign in to my itunes or purchase anything and it worked on Friday for me. I buy stuff all the time and today it says the requested resource was not found; there was an error in the iTunes store try later.

Oddly enough using a different account from the same PC I get access to the store but not using my primary account!

I got error -50 message yesterday and thought it was my pc, uninstalled itunes then installed, now it comes up with itunes is unavailbe.

This is extremely poor. For a company as large as Apple not to have even put up an acknowledgement that there is a problem shows serious concern. Apple is supposed to be the Elite, the future. It pains me to say it but at least Microsoft get their statuses out there as to keep the people informed.

Mine is the same, it won't let me in with my primary account. I found this out just now by creating a new account, I can sign in and out of this one no problems.

I have even reinstalled itunes which hasn't fixed the problem.

and apple seem to have fixed the problem!!!!

I was not able to connect to the iTunes Store either (for over a week), it would just say "connecting to" and nothing would happen - when I tried to log in to my account it would give me the (-50) error msg. I read this fix on an earlier post and it worked for me. Got to Edit, Preferences, Parental Controls - check disable iTunes Store and check Allow iTunes U. I was then able to access iTunes U. Then go back to Edit, Preferences, Parental Controls and uncheck both. Apparently something is messed up with the Parental Controls in the newest version of iTunes - but this did work for me. Good luck!

Has there been any acknowlgement or issue resolve help at all from Apple yet for this problem? From what I can see this is an ongoing issue for many people. I've had the same problem all day today and am not impressed.
I should not have to resort to uninstalling and reinstalling older version to get access, after spending the amount of money we do on I Gadgets we should at least receive some sort of notification if the store is down and should be able to access the support and help feature if the program keeps telling up we have no internet connection (which we all know we do have)

BTW, I was listening to a Mars Hill Church: Music podcast and clicked on the "More From Mars ..." website link. It launched a new Explorer window and then iTunes Store stopped working.

But your suggested fix with cycling the parental control options worked. thanks again.

Great fix I'm a new iphone, itunes, user and i got really frustrated that it might have been a win 7 issue or a profile issue but this worked great. thanks

Smagto your hint was great. After days of unsuccessful struggling with iTune support and even wasting hours to deinstall and reinstall iTunes yours worked right away. Many thanks, this should be posted on the iTunes Helppage!

If you go to the itunes store and then go to the app store. download any random app it will ask you to log in, put in your user name and pass. once you are logged in go to genius it will ask you to log in and once again put in your user name and password, it will ask you to agree to the form 2 accept and it will now work. XD
