Panning Midi - Suggestions?

I recorded midi performances with software instruments (distorted startocaster and 12-string acoustic), both of which appear in stereo midi tracks and output through aux or output tracks. I want to know how to control panning, as both seem to have panned right and the portion of the sound that is panning left is so faint as to be unusable. I have tried bouncing these to audio tracks (mono and stereo) but the audio track strips also lack left channel content. The only way I can pan these is to invoke "surround sound" and then place them in that field, which seems like overkill.

Stu:

The panning difficulty seems to be related to the "special" output features of the Sculpture (which plays the distorted strat software instrument emulation). Are you saying you can pan the distorted strat without difficulty? Can you list your settings for the output and panning? Shouldn't I be able to pan after bouncing the software instrument performance to an audio file? I am perplexed. Thanks for your help.
