Opening an .exec file

I'm trying update my firmware on my canon xsi. The canon site provides the update in an self extracting file for MAC but it wont open. Do you think it's on their end or mine.

MacBook Pro 2.4ghz, Mac OS X (10.5.8)

Thanks everyone. I figured it out. I had to use a secondary program that came with my camera to get it to work. Thank for all the advice.

You need to download the Mac version of the Firmware updater here -> http://web.canon.jp/imaging/eosd/firm-e/eosdigital4/data/e5kr4110.dmg\

This is a windows file and you can only run it from windows.
