Problems viewing trailers on Front Row

If you having problems watching WWDC Keynotes, tutorials or Trailers on the Apple website, check your Quicktime 7 settings in System Preferences:

Under Streaming, set for Automatic, enable Instant On and Play Immediately.

Under Advanced, click Mime Settings and ensure that Streaming (both kinds) are enabled.

(Note that if you are running Snow Leopard you should be using Quicktime 7 and not version 10, which does not have a preference panel.)

I am using Snow Leopard and so I have Quicktime 10

You also have Quicktime 7 - in your Utilities Folder.

I'm having the same problem, but it only occurs on SOME trailers, others work just fine.
I'm really curious what the problem might be or better what the solution is.

I had similar problems when viewing trailers using Safari - the same trailers worked fine last week! I seem to have fixed it by manually setting the date to two weeks ago!

Here's what I did:

- Open "Date & Time Preferences"
- Untick 'Set date and time automatically'
- Set the date to 8th Jan 2010
- Quit System Preferences
- Quit Safari and QuickTime Player
- Open Safari and goto www.apple.com/trailers
- Click one of the HD trailers (...this time the Hubble 3D trailer worked)
- Open "Date & Time Preferences"
- Tick 'Set date and time automatically'
- Restart iMac (& verified I could view the trailer again)

I'm sorry Jacob I don't have an answer, however I'm running 2 Macs in the house, and both systems are 10.5.8 Leopard. I've never had this problem before and suddenly both computers are experiencing exactly the same problem.

Which exact preference file did you delete? The frontrow plist?

New to Mac so some further assistance required.

I tried to follow above suggestions but even after changing "date/time preferences" and/or deleting the file 'com.apple.frontrow.plist' neither Front Row Trailers nor trailers on apple.com/trailers are working. Looks like Quicktime (my release is Version 7.6.4) does not recognize video format.

do you know if anything has changed in apple trailers format?

The workaround I attempted & posted last night was only temporary.

I now can't view the trailers using Safari/Firefox or Front Row again 😟

My wife and I were having the exact same problem in our computers.

I can confirm that deleting the file ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.frontrow.plist fixed the problem in both of our Macs.

Try deleting the file "~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.frontrow.plist".

It worked on my Mac Pro and iMac (OS X 10.6.2).

And what exactly do I do with it? There is no System Preferences panel for Quicktime in Snow Leopard, at least on my installation.
