SONY HDR-TG7VE MOVING VIDEOS ONTO MY MAC!!!

I'VE JUST BOUGHT A LOVELY SONY HDR-TG7VE - BUT I THINK I REGRET IT NOW - PLEASE PLEASE HELP.

IT SEEMS FINE TAKING PHOTO'S OFF AND INTO BUT THE VIDEOS CAN'T BE SEEN ANYWHERE! CAN SOMEONE HELP, NEED TO KEEP IT SIMPLE, LEARNING THE MAC WAY.....
WHAT ABOUT THE SETTINGS ON THE CAMERA - SHOOTING QUALITY ETC ETC

I BOUGHT A BRAND NEW IMAC IN APRIL 2009, SO ITS ALL UPDATE

PLEASE HELP!!!

Plug camera to mac via USB. Use a/c power not batteries. Open iMovie and wait five minutes. If the import screen has not piped up, click the camcorder icon.

Hi
Dont forget that you have to clear the Sony of all SD standard definition videos before the HD videos are seen at all. We have all made that mistake. Good luck!

Curious re: your comment. As an owner of a TG7VE, what do you mean when you say you need to clear the standard def videos before you can see the HD?

I am not an expert but I am an owner of the TG3 -forerunner to your TG5/7.
Like most owners I had to go to applestore when I could not see my video when importing to imovie. There is a known issue which I have copied from Apple's website.:-

+If the Sony HDR-CX11, HDRCX12, HDR-SR1, HDR-SR7 and HDR-SR12 cameras contain both HD (AVCHD) and SD (MPEG-2) content, iMovie ’08 or Later can import the SD (MPEG-2) content. However, to import the HD (AVCHD) content to an Intel-based Mac, you must first erase the SD (MPEG-2) content on the camera.+

I think that may be Andebe's problem.
