How much can you record on the Voice Recorder

I'm taking an overseas trip and will be without computer access. I'd like to record a daily diary on my iPhone but I have no idea how much it will hold. Can anyone tell me?

iPhone 3GS, iPhone OS 3.1.2

The built in voice recorder has a limit of about 35 minutes per recording, and that takes up about 70 MB. 3rd party apps such as iTalk have unlimited capacity per recording.

Hi,
Are we sure that a voice memo can only be 35 minutes long? I only ask as I'm about to start Uni and was quite keen to use the voice memo feature to record lectures (which are definitely longer than 35mins).
Just to test (as I've never really used mine before) I might leave mine running tonight and see when it cuts out/stops.

BTW, what's iTalk....and how do I get it???

My phone records 2.5 hours on the voice memo. I turned it on and let it run a few times just to check after reading about the 35 minute limit.

Italk is an app from the app store. Search for Italk and download it when the search filters it.

The limit is about 70 MB. The amount of time you get depends on how much actual sound is recorded. For continuous voice recording this comes to about 35 minutes. If there's no sound it could be longer.
