Q: How Long Would You Expect a Battery to Last?

Bought a battery for $40 off Ebay. The vendor said that they had never been used before and he could not say how long they sat on a shelf prior to him. To get it fully charged took about 4 hours, yet I still left it plugged in over night. Today I unplugged it and use my Pismo on and off for email and light web surfing for about 2.5 hrs. In between usage was a screen saver (the one with the palm tree pics). Is this a fair enough time to expect for an original Apple battery (M7318) ? I recall more like 4 hours when new, but that's been a while and my brain doesn't work like it used to.

Nor does a battery that has sat on a shelf work as new any more. The PowerBook G3 (FireWire) was discontinued in January 2001. Any Apple brand battery for this Mac that works at all is a lucky find indeed.

The backlight on the display is the main power thief when the disk is not spinning, and you should change your settings so that the screen quickly goes completely dark when running from battery alone.
