Bootcamp 3.1 wont install

download the stand-alone package of 3.1 from here http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/windows/ and see if it helps.

I have my doubts about the testing that went into this... have you tried Microsoft Installer Cleanup Utility? often the only thing that does work.

Fear that someone might use Boot Camp 3.1 without buying Snow Leopard is preventing it from being a normal support installer for motherboard like anyone else's. In fact, I would like to see ability to load a mobo package BEFORE installing Windows, or at least without needing to update something that is six months old, buggy, came out pre-Windows 7.

I have tried repeatedly to install this update, and I keep geeting a message that the Boot Camp Update installer has stopped working. Has anyone found a way to make this work. Agree- this seems to have been prematurely released.

Uh, this is confusing me. All of the 3.1 updates are EXE's. How can I update boot camp with an exe, that makes no sense. Chewbacca is a Wookiee from the planet Kashyyyk. But Chewbacca lives on the planet Endor. Now think about it; that does not make sense!

I am running Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit on a 24" iMac (Early 2008).

Were you able to install Boot Camp 3.0 onto your machine using the 64-bit Win 7, so you could then install the update to 3.1?

I am having similar issues. It seems that Apple is only supporting 64-bit versions of Windows OS using specific models ( http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1846). I have given up trying to use the Boot Camp software and simply installed all the drivers from the OS X disk in order to use the x86 version of 7 Professional.

I had to use Mac Pro drivers to install previous version of Boot Camp. I downloaded them through torrent. Very cool, so Apple will still not support 64-bit on some models even though they work. Awesome.

Tried to help my friend install bootcamp 3.1 on his Macbook Pro running 10.6.2, Windows 7 32 bit and Bootcamp 3.

We downloaded the 32 bit installer for 3.1 to the Win 7 desktop and then ran the installer. The only visual feedback we got was a progress window while Nvidia drivers were installed. No other indication that anything had happened. How can we tell if Bootcamp 3.1 was fully installed?

When in Win 7 the Macbook function keys don't control the hardware (screen brightness, keyboard backlight,..); that's what he was hoping would now work with Bootcamp 3.1 in Windows 7.

Same here. I would love to know the answer to this.

Same question here. I have Boot Camp 3.0 installed (32 bit) on Windows 7. When I try to install the 3.1 upgrade, it seems to go through some sort of install process, but the About Boot Camp still shows 3.0.

What's going on?

I am receiving the same error when attempting to install BootCamp Update 3.1, using the standalone installer or the Apple update utility, same result...

Windows 7 Professional x64 (BootCamp)
Windows boots as primary OS (I don't use OS X at all)

I have also tried reinstalling Boot Camp 3.0 using my Snow Leopard CD, then attempting the install of Update 3.1, no go.

I'm having a similar issue. I have a first generation aluminium iMac. It runs 10.6.2 and I was running Windows Vista, but I upgraded to Windows 7 last year. I also purchased a Magic Mouse, which WIndows does not recognise. I was forced to get a corded mouse to try and upgrade to Boot Camp 3.1

However, software update did not show the update so I downloaded it manually. Whenever I tried to install in Windows 7 the app would ask permission to run, then nothing for a long time and then an error message saying 'this program might not have installed properly'. I reinstalled Windows and Boot Camp drivers (everytime it gave an error message saying it could not install Apple bluetooth hardware as the device was disconnected). This time the update did appear in software update but whenever it asked to restart the machine the update would still appear in software update as though it had not installed properly. If I try a manual install I have the same problem as above. I've tried with my Macbook also, which is still running Vista and I have exactly the same problem re. the 3.1 update.

Anyone got any ideas how I can get it working? All I really want is for the magic mouse to work.

I am having the same exact problem as ericandrews. My setup is also a 13-inch MBP with Win7 64-bit. I tried installing through ASU and through manual update (running as admin) to no success. Hope there's a solution soon.

Ditto... this seems to be a rushed release. Hopefully they fix it soon!
