Most WYSIWYG editors I've found are overrated. For one thing, they force coding of HTML on you that may create rendering you don't want to happen.
It is better to learn HTML and code raw, with a text editor that allows preview in multiple browsers, than attempt to allow some editor force coding upon you. You get better control over supporting w3.org standards, and better compatibility across multiple web browsers.
http://www.barebones.com/ I've found makes two products that fit the bill, namely Textwrangler & BBEdit.
http://browsershots.org/
is a website that lets you look at your page and see how it renders across dozens of web browsers.
http://www.webmonkey.com/
offers you all the coding tools you need to know regarding coding websites.
I've tried Dreamweaver, Pagemill, Frontpage, GoLive, but have always gone back to Barebones software.
