Airport Extreme cant connect with Western Digital HDD in windows Vista

Hi All,

I have an ASUS Desktop PC running vista. I have Bigpond wireless modem/router wiht the wireless disabled. I have an airport extreme, which I am using for wireless internet in the house. Everyone, me plus 2 other laptops can connect to the internet via the airport extreme. I have a printer(canon mp250) attached to the airport via a powered hub and everyone can print to it. Trouble is I have a usb stick also attached to the hub whihc I can see in the network (when it decides to become visible) but it will not recognise a "Western Digital My Book essential 1TB" and yes it does work I have plugged it directly into the PC.
I have 2 problems, 1) not being able to see the western digital 1TB External HDD on my network and 2) the network being very intermittent.

Hope someone can help.

Many thanks
Steve
