It is definitely the machine. When I restart Google will load, but if I leave the machine for any length of time it won't and I have to restart the machine again.
This has happened since I did the latest downloads including Bonjour (haven't a clue what that is by the way. I always do a disk repair before and after downloading anything.
This time I got:
SUID file "System/Library/Core Services/Remote management/ARDAgent app/Contents/MacOS/ARDAgent" has been modified and will not be repaired.
What is all that about? Could it have something to do with the Google problem?
That error from doing +Repair Disk Permissions+ can be safely ignored. It is just informational.
Bonjour is a service that makes it easier to connect to local network devices, such as other computers and printers. It should not affect Internet access, especially a specific web site.
As a test, try creating a new admin user account in System Preferences Accounts pane
Log out and log in to the new account. Try running Safari and FireFox to access Google in the new account. Does the site load properly? I have a feeling it will. If it does, the cause is something in your normal user account. If the problem still recurs in the new account, then the cause is something at the system (OS) level. Either way, additional trouble-shooting can be better focused.
OK it is definitely something wrong with the OS.
1. Have tried accessing Google from my laptop on the same network. It loads immediately every time with no problem.
2. I have disabled my Mac firewall and still the same
3. I have done repair disk permissions - still the same
4. Have run OnyX chron scripts - still the same
5. Have tried a different account - still the same
One of the updates I ran yesterday was a security update could this have done something. Still don't understand why it is just Google and just on this machine - it is very very strange.
I do hope someone can help this is driving me mad.
I have found that if I leave Google to download for about 5 minutes it will eventually. I have no problem pinging Google and get:
10 packets transmitted, 10 packets received, 0.0% packet loss
round-trip min/avg/max/stddev = 19.474/20.935/22.397/1.073 ms
Also tried switching to 32 bit mode and it makes no difference.
Please please someone - I know it's sad but I feel as if someone has cut off a limb
Try starting up in Safe Mode
This will run some maintenance during startup, but more importantly, start up with only Apple's essential system extensions and processes running. Try accessing Google once you get to the Desktop.
Kenichi - Thank you very much. Finally got the problem sort. A phone call to my very supportive ISP discovered that my DNS had been corrupted (security update download?). Anyway, after putting in alternative DNS problem was solved. A bit of a puzzle as to how this happened however.
Thanks again for taking the time to respond
HEy guys. Seems like you've fixed the problem. Idk how but I too am experiencing the same problem. Gmail, and Google only works for brief period of time. Seems like its pretty random as to when it feels like working and when it just wants to load... and load... and load...
Should I restart my router? Restart my modem? Or anything else? I am not understanding what you 2 did to fix it
