Problems connecting Panasonic AG DVX100B to Macbook Pro via Firewire

I am attempting to connect a Panasonic AG DVX100B camera to my Macbook Pro via Firewire.

I am wanting to edit using Avid Media Composer. When connected I can remote control the camera from Avid but cannot capture from the camera.

Nothing pops up on my desktop when I connect the camera.

Do I need to configure my firewire? If so, how do I do this?

Thanks

Macbook Pro 15, Mac OS X (10.6.2)

From the looks of it, nobody wants to answer any firewire forums haha. I'm actually having the same problem on my macbook pro with a firewire interface.

After doing a little research, I've found that there are a good number of macbook pros with faulty firewire cards. So our problem can be one of two things, either the firewire needs to be replaced, or- like you said- the firewire needs to be configured. Of course, if certain settings on your computer is still default, the firewire shouldn't have to be configured... should it?
