Jan 24, 2010 9:09 PM in response to richzapby ta,The obvious answers would be to check the sound output preferences, the volume control in the menu bar, make sure mute isn't on, and check the output selection bottom right itunes window. -
Jan 24, 2010 11:07 PM in response to taby richzap, sound preferences are ok - audio will play in other apps like Quicktime, VLC, or any other third party media player.
The volumes up, and there no secondary output around, so I don't even have that option to choose in iTunes I'm just using the built-in ones with the iMac. Mute isn't on.
It's really weird that iTunes is the only thing that doesn't have sound. every other program is fine. -
Jan 26, 2010 8:51 PM in response to richzapby alfrednutile,Same here.

Jan 27, 2010 7:09 AM in response to richzapby zstrezo,Hi,
You might need to go to a songs preferences, this was a problem I had on a few of my songs, but never my entire library. Once you right click the system preferences of that individual song should come up and it will have volume and EQ control(also a few other specs that let you finely tweek your song). Adjust it from there and see what happens.

Feb 3, 2010 10:06 PM in response to richzapby JediTiger,★HelpfulI think I just stumbled onto the answer.
Play a movie (mine play in full-screen mode) and check the volume slider on the display toward the bottom of the screen. Even though iTunes volume slider was all the way up, this slider was all the way down and when I moved it up, the sound came back. Try it and see if that's the problem. -

Jun 23, 2010 12:53 PM in response to richzapby Kmacs,Hey, this just happened to me. Youtube etc all had sound, my videos in iTunes had sound as well.
But no sound from any songs in iTunes.
Problem: I had shut off my Computer Speakers when using my iPhone's "Remote" while in another room in my apartment.
Solution: Bottom right hand corner of iTunes. The speaker drop down list select Computer Speakers.

Jul 25, 2010 11:31 AM in response to richzapby Rick Marsh,When will Apple's technicians finally pull off their ipod earbuds long enough to address this issue? For newbies, these Apple Support discussions are useless, since actual Apple technicians pay no attention. They've got us just complaining away in circles to each other. I downloaded the movie "Avatar" for visiting kids last night, and attempted to play it for them on the computer screen in iTunes. How disappointing to the children that there was no sound. Everyone of us was robbed of $15. Wake up, Apple. -
Mar 9, 2011 9:20 AM in response to richzapby siVidrius,I had the same problem right after upgrading iTunes. I was able to fix it by playing a movie in iTune, then selecting the "airPlay" button and selecting "Computer" instead of Apple TV -
Jun 18, 2011 1:44 PM in response to richzapby TechnicallyBallin,This happened to me too. I played music on youtube but wouldnt play on itunes, but i figured it out! Right click on the volume speaker right next to the time at the bottom of your screen. Click "Open Volume Mixer" and where it says itunes, lift up the bar.

Jun 29, 2011 2:47 PM in response to richzapby claude seguy,I didn't get any sound out of my iTunes music and this site helped. I went to iTunes preferences, clicked on "Devices" and checked: " Allow iTunes control from remote speakers" and all went back to normal.
I had recently purchased an iTV and I assume the sound to have been switched to it.

Sep 13, 2011 9:48 AM in response to richzapby afaigen,I have this problem too, what I just figured out is that you can just play any song you have in your itunes library from a different media player. So I just went to my start menu > All programs > Quicktime (since that was downloaded with itunes, you should have that too..) > then within quicktime go to file drop down menu > open file (or press ctrl o) > then in my music you should see a itunes folder, so double click that > go into itunes media > go into music > all your songs should be there, make sure you click the bottom drop down menu (files of type:) and change it to all files (or just audio files)
