No Sound in iTunes.
Any ideas as to why? Thanks in advance.

On the recent Yosemite and iTunes 12 updates (October 2014) my iTunes demonstrated same problem: no sound.
Went to SYSTEM PREFERENCES > SOUND and selected my preferred OUTPUT (which in my case is an AudioBox interface, not the default internal speakers).
So, either the Yosemite or iTunes updated flipped it back to defaults - I just had to undo that, and bingo!
When installing the latest version of itunes i had the same problem can't hear sound. I went into the MIDI Audio and went to audio devices window and changed the format to 2ch-24bit.
I'm sorry in regards to my last reply. In audio MIDI setup go to audio devices window click built-in output then change format from 2ch-16bit to 2ch-20bit.
GUYS!!!!!!
Problem: I just went on itunes clicked on a sound and their was no sound on any...
Solution: Plugged headphones and unplugged them
My sound works for everything but iTunes radio. I've tried every single suggestion in this thread and nothing works. Is there something going on with iTunes radio that I'm not aware of? I noticed tonight that not only do I not have sound but half the stations don't work. I'll hit the play button and nothing happens. The ones that do play songs , I can see it paying in the bar up top but there's no sound. Everything else I try on my computer has sound.
Problem: New installation of iTunes version 12.1.2.27 on new Windows 8.1 64bit laptop. iTunes has no sound, but other apps do.
Solution: In iTunes go to Edit > Preferences > Playback > Play Audio Using: Direct Sound > OK > Restart iTunes.
Thanks. I'd tried everything (all settings were correct and hadn't been changed) and this is the only thing that worked!
Worked like a charm. Thanks.
No sound in latest iTunes update: 12.3.2.35.
Sound working everywhere else and I don't find a playback setting in iTunes preferences.
Same problem today with 12.3.3.17. Everything (sound) works except iTunes. Can't buy without previewing.
Audio surround sound was set to dolby 5.1. I am connected to a TV that doesn't know dolby 5.1. Changed setting to "Best Quality Available" and sound for iTunes works now.
Well, now it started working after restarting MBP for the second time
I searched every iTunes page and cannot find the little icon described. Sound very low.
Got my sound back! Tried "all of the above" - right-clicked on individual song and got the options menu. Marker was in the middle of the -100/+100 scale. Moved it to +100 and had sound!
This worked!! I had been using Apple TV and somehow inadvertently clicked "computer" off. Once clcked, all was fine with my library!! Many thanks.
