Apps not working after Sync

I recently purchased an iPhone3GS. I have downloaded several apps, and all work fine. However, after I sync my phone to my computer, all of the downloaded apps quit working. They open then close back to the home page. The apps that came with the phone do not have this problem. I am wondering about not having a setting correct? I am getting tired or deleting and re-installing an app to get all of them working again.

Thanks.

I had the same problem following a sync with laptop iTunes and found the following solution on another board (credit to Mark-IT) and it worked for me...

I did an update to 3.1 via iTunes and after my downloaded applications keep quitting (not the default iPhone apps). I read many complicate ways of fixing it. Here is how I fixed it. Very simple:

1. Go to App Store
2. Select Top Free
3. Install any free App.
It will asked you to authenticate to the App Store in the process
4. Launch program after the installation completed.
5. Exit and then try other apps

After I did this all was working normal again. No need to sync or uninstall or other steps.

OK GUYS, I BELIEVE I HAVE THE RESOLUTION FOR THE ISSUE,

When you connect your phone to itunes it is suppose to sync any new apps you have purchased to the app folder in itunes. Unfortunately it doesnt always do so. Therefore when you sync your phone and then try to open the apps they dont actually open. In order to fix the problem follow these steps.

1. CONNECT YOUR IPHONE, CLICK THE "FILE" BUTTON AT THE TOP
2. SELECT "TRANSFER PURCHASES FROM IPOD/IPHONE"
3. ONCE THE TRANSFER IS COMPLETE DELETE ALL 3RD PARTY APPS ON THE PHONE(HOLD DOWN ONE APP FOR A FEW SECONDS TILL THEY ALL WIGGLE)THEN CLICK THE X IN THE UPPER LEFT HAND SIDE. (MAKE SURE TO DELETE ALL OF THEM)
4. ONCE THEY ARE ALL DELETED HIT THE HOME BUTTON TO LOCK THE REST BACK IN PLACE
5. THEN RESYNC YOUR PHONE WILL ALL THE APPS YOU WANT.

They should now open on your phone. Hope this helps. Cheers

If the new app solution don't work, this is for you.

Deauthorize and reauthorize your computer
Before attempting these steps, transfer all iTunes Store and App Store content on the device to your computer. Then, use the following steps to deauthorize and reauthorize your computer:

Connect your device to a computer and open iTunes.
In iTunes, select your device in the left-hand column and then click the Applications tab. Verify that Sync Applications is checked.
Choose Store > Deauthorize Computer from the menu bar. Enter your iTunes Store account and password, and then click Deauthorize.
Click Sync in the lower-right to sync your device. When prompted, select Don't Authorize. This will remove all applications and other iTunes Store content from the device.
Note: You may see this prompt more than once. Select Don't Authorize each time.
When the sync is complete, choose Store > Authorize Computer from the menu bar. Enter your iTunes Store account and password, and then click Authorize.
Sync your applications and content from iTunes to the device.

If I have stopped you tearing your hair out, a coffee would be appreciated.
Cheers

I've just had this problem and this solved it for me as well (the download and install a free app trick).

I recently updated to OS 3.1.3 and then updated 5 or so apps. That seemed to go fine, but then I decided to restart my phone and it stalled at the Apple logo for an indefinite amount of time (over 10 minutes). Figuring something had gone wrong, I forced a shut down and restarted it again. I had to do this again and it finally started up. However, I was no longer able to launch any third party apps, nor was I able to synch my iPhone to iTunes, until I used the trick above.

what "ryephone" said works, no need to do anything else...
