Jan 25, 2010 6:03 AM in response to FBL1by ReMacs,Right click Desktop "Computer" icon, select Manage. Expand heading "Disk Management" and right click Disk icon fo Mac Drive space. Select "Offline".
You and the OS can not see space any more. If you need to copy pics, music etc. to Windows, Online it. Otherwise, Offline is safe. -
Jan 25, 2010 2:11 PM in response to ReMacsby FBL1,Maybe it's because I'm using XP, but I see no option to set a partition "Offline" in the Disk Management window. I've tried right-clicking on the display showing the various parititons, and on the list of drives/partitions - neither gives me the option to set anything Offline....? -
Jan 26, 2010 4:27 AM in response to FBL1by ReMacs,In Windows 7/Vista, the small icon on left for Disk 0, Disk 1 is rihjt clickable
Failing that, Right click Desktop "Computer" icon, select Properties then go Device Manager. Or get there however you've done so before.
In Device Manager you see icons for all devices, including Disk Drives. If you see 2 drives when you click on the Disk Drive icon Right Click Mac Space/Drive & select Disable. It won't allow Disable (in Vista/Windows 7) on the Windows drive in case you are worried about that. If you can do this the result will be in Explorer no longer showing Mac space. -
Jan 26, 2010 10:22 AM in response to ReMacsby FBL1,I should have stated that I am using Windows XP SP3 32 bit, and am currently using a modified Boot Camp 2.1 installation.
I'm asking about disabling the HFS+ access from a Boot Camp 3 install, in anticipation of upgrading to BC 3.1 at some point in the near future. Perhaps my inability to find "Mac Space" in my Device Manager's Disk Management window is because I have not installed Boot Camp 3 yet...?
Is "Mac Space" something that only becomes available once Boot Camp 3 has been installed? Or is it dependent on the use of Vista or Windows 7? -
