Trouble downloading itunes onto my computer, getting a weird message...

I'm trying to download the latest version of iTunes onto my computer and I keep getting this error message:
An error occurred during the installation of assembly 'Microsoft.VC80.CRT,version="8.0.50727.4053",type=win32",publicKeyToken="1fc8b3 b9a1e18e3b",processorArchitecture="x86". Please refer to Help and Support for more information. HRESULT: 0x800736B3.

Windows told me to ask Apple.

Any idea what that means? I cannot DL itunes, which renders my ipod useless unless it's fixed. Thanks!

Hello. This worked for me, having downloaded iTunes from Apple website:

1. Download and install 7-zip;
2. Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe icon and choose 7-zip> "Extract to iTunes\";
3. Next, double-click AppleApplicationSupport.msi and install;
4. Install everything but iTunes;
5. Install iTunes;
6. This should be it 🙂.
