Need Help with Ipod Touch Headphone Jack

Hello, some people may have heard of the whole ipod touch headphone jack problem. In my case, my left headphone is either crackling, quiet, or silent. You really need to jiggle the headphone input around to get it to play sound in full quality, and it's no guarantee that sound will play through the left headphone for long. It is not a problem with the headphones, because I have tried multiple pairs. My ipod is a 2nd generation ipod touch, out of warranty. The main question I have is if my ipod is worth taking to an apple store for repair. From past experience is anyone able to tell me how much a repair on the jack (or a replacement) would cost? Otherwise I'm looking for estimates, and again if it is worthwhile. Thank you.

That depends on you, really. If it's out of warranty, there is obviously a cost. A new iPod can run between $299-$399, depending on the size memory you get.

So I'd say anything under $125 to repair is worth the time and expense. $130-$160, is a pick 'em. Anything over $160, you might just as well get a new one.

Best of luck in any case--
