Capturing 24p Video from Panasonic DVX-100

those are the settings that you need. The DVX100 you are using doesn't shoot progressive, instead what it does is apply a pulldown to address the fields in a way so you can remove them later as you capture them. So give it a try an test it later side by side with regular 29,97 fps and you'll see the difference.

ALL DV is 29.97. If I recall correctly, the 24p mode is progressive in the sense that both fields of a frame are identical, and some are duplicated to fake the 24p look.

Interlacing is not a defect, by the way. You've just gotta understand it and take its limitations into account when shooting.

To remove the pulldown from 24p you'll need to remove it Cinema Tools. The user guide is rather comprehensive in explaining this process.

In the USE area of the Easy Setup, choose Cinema Tools 23.98 from DV-NTSC. That will remove standard 3:2 pulldown (which is 24p). You would only use the Advanced Pulldown removal if you had shot 24pA (the A standing for Advanced). Be aware that you will still have 6 interlaced frames in your video.




You no longer have to actually launch Cinema Tools to do this. You can do it from within FCP for about 2 or 3 versions now.

You had better be sure. If you use the wrong removal scheme, you won't be pleased with the results.
