Want my work outlook email on iphone

I am going crazy trying to figure out how to get my work email from outlook to show up on my iPhone without having to go through webmail. My IT guy has told me that it can't be done without some expensive pc. of equipment (something they do have for the Blackberry), but if I was able to figure out how to get my calendar items pushed from outlook to ical from gmail, shouldn't there be something similar out there to allow me to get my outlook email, too?

17" MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.5.8)

Add account...Exchange
Enter you logon details and in the server url section, put in the first section of the url that you log on to webmail with i.e webmail.company.com
The domain is the line that you normally can't see, when you log onto your PC in the morning...click on the details link on your logon page to see it or ask IT
Password and username is your webmail logon p/w and username.

The iPhone will ask if you want to try and connect without security...say yes.

If it asks if you want to keep contacts on your phone, say "keep on phone".

That will give you Contacts, E-mail and Calendar all on your phone. You can turn each one on or off as you please and you can stop using the Google calendar if you want to, becasue you'll be dealing directly with the Exchange Server using Outlook Web Access.
CAlendar and e-mail will take a few minutes to update.

Push can be turned on in the accounts section on the phone as normal

Ta da!

+The little app I spoke about is called ImLite Viewer:+
+ http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/imlite-viewer-outlook-tasks-notes/id297370456?mt= 8+

OK, I downloaded the app (there was another one called imlite that I downloaded by mistake)...created an account...now should I try to set up the email account again? Not sure what to do next. Please note that I can't sync to iTunes because that account is on my mac at home, and I am currently at work!

+It's not a security risk as nobody has your username and password but would you tell me what the webmail url is that you're using?+

My webmail address is: webmail.atlantajcc.org. My user and password is the same as what I use to logon to my email at work and via webmail. Domain is AJCC (is this case-sensitive?)

+The only drawback with forwarding is that you can't reply from your phone as it won't be coming from your work e-mail account...it will come from your GMail account.+

Can't I reply from the gmail account? I could setup a new account with a name like "pamatwork@gmail.com"?

(BTW, IT says that if I get this setup, they'll treat me to Starbucks everyday for a week...if y'all weren't so far, I'd share!)

Just enter your account details in the new app and see if it will connect and pick up your Tasks from Outlook.
You have the option of SSL on/off and 2007 on/off so changing those settings might help (might not)

+My webmail address is: webmail.atlantajcc.org+
Your domain will definitely be webmail.atlantajcc.org
Domain is not case-sensitive AFAIK but stick to it exactly anyway...can't hurt.

+My user and password is the same as what I use to logon to my email at work and via webmail+
Your username is fine, unless you use a different one to actually log onto your PC when you switch it on. The other thing you could try is to look yourself up in the Outlook Address Book and check what is under "alias". It's possible you might have to use that as it's your mailbox name...again, unlikely but you never know.

With GMail, yes you could set up another account but let's see what happens with ImLite Viewer first.

Also, you could try username as "AJCC\your username" or you could try "AJCC\your_alias" (backslash, not forward slash)

And you could try "webmail.atlantajcc.org/exchange/" as your server name
Clutching at straws here 😉

+or even https://webmail.atlantajcc.org/exchange/ or https://webmail.atlantajcc.org as your server name+

I've done them both without the https but I'll try with...

As far as the OWA app is concerned, the reviews look fairly dismal, but I could try? The iMlite app didn't work...no tasks showing up.

By the way, when I checked to make sure that I was using the correct domain name, I did control>alt>delete, then options...according to the link you sent me several posts back...the copy following the logon to should be the domain. However, here it reads, PMORTON3 -- my IT guy says that that is the name of my computer, not the domanin. He did give me two alternative domains to try which I will. Otherwise, I think we're going to have to give up.

+Is MobileMe an option?+

Was trying to avoid shelling out 100 bucks and not quite sure how it works...

If it was the name of your computer, it would mean your are using a local profile and all of your apps and docs are stored locally on your PC.
Try one more thing before I go home for the weekend and I'll check back later:

Right-click on the Outlook icon on your PC desktop and select "Properties"
Click on "E-mail accounts..."
"view or change e-mail acounts"..."next"

highlight "Microsoft Exchange server" if it's there, or if there's only one entry, highlight that...
"Change..."

What does it say next to Microsoft Excahnge Server?

Just cancel or close your way back and don't change anything

I doubt that will work - its an internal server for accessing Exchange on the network - it probably wont work outside that network.

its very possible that there is no work around - IT admins have the ability to turn off off-network ActiveSync on accounts. If they do that, there is no work around to get it to work - thats one of the benifits of Exchange from an IT perspective: control.
