Hi, I'm trying to edit an AVI. file. I tried making the settings correspond with the file format, but when I imported it into FCP and tried to render it, I got the message: "Codec not found. You may be using a compression type without the corresponding hardware card."
When I open it in quicktime it says I need to download the Xvid Component to watch it. Should I download this? Should I download the binary or the source?
The format is:
Vid Rate 29.97
Frame Size: 720 x 300
Compressor: (blank)
Data Rate: 239.9
Pixel Aspect: Square
Good point, but I've never had a conflict with Log and Transfer or Log and Capture and I've had Perian since long before there was Log and Transfer. Not saying it can't, but I've had a conflict with the stand along Xvid and Divx codecs.
Sorry, not the media, I'm talking about the .component file in the Quicktime folder. If you install the Divx codec or the Xvid codec, it can make the Log and Capture window fail to open. With the Perian codec, never happened to me, and it handles Xvid and Divx files, as well as many other codecs. I'm not talking about actual content, just component files.
I will admit, it may be rare, but I encountered it, and it took a little hunting to figure it out. Not too long, but nonetheless, I thought I would do an FYI. As well, the 3ivx codec off the Flip camera makes other things not work properly on a Mac as well. Perian handles this too. It may very well be mix of things, and I just happened to have the proper mix, and you have different codecs installed. But I was not the only one who saw this, and I think I found the answer on this forum. It was quite some time ago, so maybe things are better now. Good thing to be aware of though. That's all. Cheers!
