The installer could not validate the contents of the 'Essentials' package.

hello, I have zero'd my HD after issues with Tiger. I cannot get Tiger to update properly, so as i had Leopard on before from a retail disc, i thought i would install Leopard straight onto the drive. No way Jose!

25% through then "The installer could not validate the contents of the 'Essentials' package." What does that mean? the disk is good, clean safe and tested to be working. where should i go from here?

Any ideas please.

Mike

Have you tried cleaning the lens in your optical drive?

we are sorted....hooray

Eventually at boot with original installation disc held down the D key, went into test mode. Identified error code 4MEM/1/40000000 swapped the 2 stick around, had same issue. Reinstalled original sticks. No problems at all. Both discs used and MIni running great now aftre doing lots of updates.

Thanks for all the help. It might be worth remembering this one as i does seem to be quite common.

Thanks again.

I had the same error installing from a retail 10.5.1 disk.
And I had just put different/more ram into the machine.

So I followed your lead.
I swapped the ram around so both slot 1s upper and lower had ram brand a, and both slot 2s upper and lower had ram brand b. Before I had brand a in both upper slots and brand b in both lower slots.
They were all the same size and type just two different brands so I didn't think it would matter.

After the swap I ran the install from the retail 10.5.1 disk with no issues. Thank you for posting your results you saved me from going through the hardware test multiple times.

The installer could not validate the contents of the 'Essentials' package.
