Microsoft Wireless Mouse Wheel not scrolling properly

My parents just got a new Microsoft Wireless Keyboard/Mouse for their Mac Mini. Everything works fine except scrolling the mouse wheel.

When scrolling it takes about six entire revolutions to move a scroll bar one inch. I thought this was a simple setting in "System Preferences" but no matter how I move the scroll speed setting it does the same thing.

I thought it may be a bad mouse so I tried it on a Windows comptuer and the mouse works fine.

Originally I did not install the Microsft install CD. I have tried this using the Mac's Mouse settings with no luck. I then installed the intelli mouse software on the CD and used its settings but it still did the same thing. I even updated all software for the Mac and the intelli software.

The model of the combo is Microsoft Wireless Media Desktop 1000 (ZHA-00001.) It states that it is Mac compatible and even comes with Mac software.

If anyone has any ideas it would help out so much!

If anyone else has this issue apparently there is a known problem with the scroll wheel on these mice. I found this out by checking various sites and reviews online. I tried various third party firmwares like USB Overdrive and still had the issue now realize the problem is hardware related. I will be returning it for a Logitech!
