So, I've been pretty excited to have successfuly burned DL DVD's on my new iMac using Verbatim DVD+R DL disc. I tried to play it on my Powerbook that's equipped with a Matshita DVD-R UJ 825 and all it did was try to read the disc, make all these weird clicking noises and spew out the disc. I found this article online:
http://www.macosx.com/content/faq.php/q3934/Matshita-Dvdr-Uj825.html
Is there a fix for this issue? Are there drivers available or is the drive just plain flawed? I could try using TDK media but they're not as cost-effective at Verbatim discs.
Mac Plus, PM 7100/80, PM 500MP 1GB RAM, PB G4 17 1.5 GHz, 2 GB RAM, iMac 20 2.1 GHz 1.5 GB RAM,
Mac OS X (10.4.3),
iPods: 1G & 3G, mini 1G, shuffle, nano; Shure E4c, Westone UM2
Read the link you posted more carefully, Hooking up the external only allowed the drive to eject the disc,
Your iMac will read and write DL but your Powerbook will not Read or write Dual Layer...
Cheers...Don
I was referring to the person who responded to the question who was referring to the same Matshita drive that's in my PowerBook. But nevertheless you've answered my question regarding the ability of UJ 825 to read burned DL DVD+R discs.
