Need help connecting MacBook Pro to Samsung HDTV

Hi friends,

I'm trying to connect my MacBook Pro to a Samsung HDTV. I have a Mini Displayport to HDMI Adapter, as well as an HDMI cord that connects from that little white adapter to the TV. But when I change the source of the TV to HDMI 4 (where it's plugged in), it says "No Signal". Changing the display resolution has no effect, and clicking "Detect Displays" seems to do nothing.

It recognizes that the computer is plugged in - when I unplug the computer, the TV changes from "No Signal" to "Check Signal Cable." But I still can't get my computer to show up on the TV screen. Any ideas?

I've been holding back on posting as I know there are some Samsung HDTV's that just won't work with HDMI and a MacBook Pro, and folks have a tendency to shoot the messenger ...

Does the Samsung have some alternative Inputs available that could be used instead e.g. S-Video or Composite Video or RGB sockets ? Apple do sell a variety of mini display port adapters that could work for you.

I won't shoot the messenger, I'm very appreciative that you're trying to help me!

I have a VGA adapter, but RadioShack doesn't have any VGA cords, so I'm out of luck for now... But if I find a VGA cord, you think that will work?

Also, once I plug that in and supposedly get video working, where do I plug in my audio cord? I think I have the right cord for it, I just have no idea where to plug it in the TV.

Thanks so much for your help!
