menubar disappears

I have just installed Snow Leopard, and among other things, I am having issues with the menubar. Sometimes when I open more than one Safari window, the menubar disappears (you can vaguely see the text of the buttons though). Quitting Safari made the menubar visable again but this is disturbing.

I first noticed this when I was looking at the widgets and I selected 'More Widgets' to browse for more...

Which menubar is disappearing, the Safari toolbar at the top of Safari windows or the Mac OS X menubar at the very top of the display?

After installing Snow Leo have you applied all available updates. Are you using Software Update for updates or are you manually downloading and applying the updates? Are you multitasking during updates? Do you Repair Permissions after applying updates?

Yes. I installed all the updates and I use the software update utility. I wasn't even aware you could do them yourself. I never have done anything else when doing the updates.

The menubar, at the top of the screen for the entire system, was gone.

After a few very disturbing troubled with SL, I've decided to go back to Leopard. I left Windows because of the endless forum searching and tech support calls. I thought that if the hardware and software were designed by the same company, they should work in unison. Clearly I was mistaken. But at least I take comfort knowing that Leopard worked perfectly fine for me for a year, and that still affirms my trust in Apple products. I'll wait till the day SL is ready, or the next os comes out.
